Drivers Urged To Use Caution On Re-Opened Freeways

Hundreds of weary truck drivers are relieved traffic is finally moving again now that floodwaters and avalanche danger have gone down.

Interstate 5 is fully re-opened in Lewis County.  Traffic is also getting over Snoqualmie Pass on I-90.

In Chehalis, Don Wagner -- the Southwest region highway boss -- cautioned drivers to watch out for crews doing clean up work.

Don Wagner “We do ask people driving on the freeway to be very careful. We still have some maintenance work to do. Some potholes we’re trying to fill out here. The delineation got a little dirty with the water that’s out there, so we will be working in the area all day today. The really good news is Mother Nature didn’t hit us as hard on the freeway this time.”

Some rivers are falling back into their banks more slowly than others.

From Lewis County north to the Canadian border, many side roads and state highways remain closed.
