Culver Man Wins World Rodeo Championship
Bend, OR December 17, 2007 5:41 p.m.
Oregon continues to impress in the sport of rodeo.
At this year's National Finals Rodeo championship over the weekend, nine Oregonians finished in the money.
Justin Mote, a 31-year-old Culver man, won his second world crown in bareback riding.
Mote says the $200,000 he won this year is good money, but it doesn't really change his life all that much.
For one thing, Mote still lives in Culver.
We reached Mote on his cell phone, as he drove home from the world championships in Las Vegas.
Justin Mote: “No, no I don't gamble. I go there and kind of take care of business. And now these next couple weeks I get off, I kinda decompress and get refocused on 2008.”
Mote's win wasn't a shock -- he was the favorite going into the championship this weekend.
