Firefighters are continuing to wrestle with the aftermath of lightning storms that passed though Central Oregon last week.  As David Nogueras reports, lightning strikes sparked hundreds of fires though out the region.

Over the weekend, firefighters managed to contain a group of four fires north of Maupin.

To the south, a large grass fire on Warm Springs Indian Reservation is starting to wind down.

But west of Sisters, the Scott Mountain fire is just getting started. It's already burned 325 acres. All of these fires are the result of last week's storms.

Jeree Mills: "Oh my, we've been picking up dozens and dozens of them".

That's Jeree Mills with the Northwest Interagency Coordination Center.  She says fire crews quickly snuffed most of those fires.

But, she says warm weather coming in from the west could keep firefighters busy.

Jeree Mills: "It's most likely they'll be picking up quite a few more that have just been smoldering over a week".

Mills says low humidity, gusty winds and high temperatures are in the forecast.
