Clock Ticking For Oregon Voters
Oregonians have just a few more hours to vote in Tuesday's election. The deadline to turn in a ballot is 8 o'clock Tuesday night.
For Democrats and Republicans, the marquee match-up is in the race for governor.
Salem Democrat J.J. Santos cast his ballot Tuesday afternoon. He said he chose Bill Bradbury over former Oregon governor John Kitzhaber.
J.J. Santos: "We've seen Kitzhaber before. I think we (should) try to do something a little different. I think Bradbury, he's got the experience, he's got the education."
Republican voter Jim Moore of Salem said he voted for former NBA basketball player Chris Dudley over businessman Allen Alley.
Jim Moore: "Well, figuring that probably Kitzhaber is going to get the Democratic nomination, I was trying to find the candidate that I thought would be the most able to bump him out."
Oregon has not elected a Republican governor since 1982.
Oregon Secretary of State Kate Brown predicts turnout in the May primary will be around 37 percent.
Primary voters in Oregon can only select candidates from their own party, but all voters can participate since there are several non-partisan races and measures on the ballot.
