Clark County Next Venue For Interstate Bridge Comments
The chance to comment on a replacement for the Interstate Bridge is drawing to a close. As Andrew Theen reports, the Clark County Board of Commissioners will hear public comment on the project Monday.
When an 800 page document called the Columbia River Crossing Draft Environmental Impact Statement came out in early May, that kicked off the public comment period. It's all over on July first.
The Clark County Board of Commissioners is the next regional body to open its ears to public comments.
Clark County's position is crucial, especially after voters there rejected a ballot measure in 1995 that would have extended light rail into Vancouver.
The new plan for the Interstate Bridge is almost sure to include light rail.
The Columbia River Crossing Task Force is slated to meet for possibly the final time Tuesday night.
They're scheduled to vote on the preferred alternative for the Interstate Bridge re-do.
Some opponents have said the task force should not make a recommendation before the public comment period officially closes.
Task Force members took an informal poll in January and a majority of members said they favored the most expensive option; a new bridge with light rail.
