Bradbury Signals Likely Run For Governor In 2010
Senator Hillary Clinton's speech may have been the biggest national news of the night from Denver.
But Secretary of State Bill Bradbury's talk of a likely run for governor may have made the biggest waves in Oregon.
At the Democratic National Convention, Bradbury became the first Oregon politician to announce he is seriously considering a campaign for Governor in two years.
Current-Governor Ted Kulongoski must step aside because of term limits.
Bradbury says he still must decide whether he has a good chance to win - and who his possible opponents are.
Bill Bradbury: “I am not announcing for Governor, I am saying that I am very seriously considering it. I believe very strongly that Jeff Merkley will be the next U.S. Senator from Oregon. But if he doesn't accomplish that, it would require him and I have a conversation."
Other Democrats mentioned as possible candidates include departing state Treasurer Randall Edwards and current Democratic candidate for Treasurer Ben Westlund, a state Senator from Tumalo.
Republicans who might be interested include Congressman Greg Walden, candidate for Treasurer Allen Alley, and state senator Jason Atkinson.
