Congresswoman Suzanne Bonamici was sworn in Tuesday to serve out former Representative David Wu's term.

Bonamici took her oath of office, administered by House Speaker John Boehner.

Rep. Suzanne Bonamici makes her first address to the House of Representatives after being sworn in.

The short ceremony found Bonamici receiving congratulations from all the state's members of the Congress.

Congressman Greg Walden joked that he welcomed her on behalf of Oregon's entire Republican delegation - meaning him.

Bonamici had a busy day of administrative work. She made good on a campaign promise, signing on as co-sponsor for a bill that would let credit unions lend more money to small businesses.

"I will be the 115th co-sponsor on that bi-partisan legislation," Bonamici said.

Bonamici says she isn't sure whether she'll retain any of the handful of David Wu staffers left in the First District office, but did encourage them to re-apply for their jobs if they'd like to stick around.
