Blood Test Results For McMinnville Players Coming Back

Parents of McMinnville High School football players, say blood test results from their kids are coming back negative for performance-enhancing supplements.

But as Kristian Foden-Vencil reports, patient privacy rules mean the public will have to wait to learn the results from all the tests.

24 out of 30 players had to go to the hospital last week - after a grueling training session.

Three had to have surgery on their triceps. Blood tests to check for supplements and drugs were taken.

Several families have stepped forward to say the results are clean. But schools superintendent Maryalice Russell says the district won't get the results from the hospital because of privacy rules.

Maryalice Russell: "So I think it will be either through parent notification of positive or negative test results. And or through the state epidemiologist. But I'm not aware when I'll become knowledgeable of that information."

Epidimiologist Dr. Katrina Hedberg is leading the state's investigation.

Katrina Hedberg: "We will not be releasing any information specifically on blood results, until we look into the larger investigation to make sure that we can can understand what they mean and put them in context, because we're really trying to get to the bottom of this."

Hedberg's report is expected as soon as next week.
