Blazers Send Two Players And Cash To Clippers For Camby
The Portland Trail Blazers have traded two players for LA Clippers center Marcus Camby -- and they’ve sweetened the deal with some cash. Amelia Templeton reports.
Blazers General Manager Kevin Pritchard confirmed the trade.
The LA Clippers will receive guard Steve Blake and forward Travis Outlaw in exchange for six-foot-eleven center Marcus Camby.
The Clippers will also receive cash in the deal though Pritchard won’t confirm the amount.
Outlaw joined the Blazers in 2003, making him the longest serving member of the current team. All three players in the trade had contracts set to expire at the end of this season.
Six-foot-nine power forward Juwan Howard has been filling in as defensive center for the team after both Greg Oden and Joel Przybilla were sidelined with serious injuries.
In a press release Pritchard calls his new center Camby “a fierce competitor” and “one of the league’s best defensive players.”
The team has been battling for a spot in the Western Conference playoffs and is in 8th place.
