Blazers' Roy Again Named an All-Star
The Portland Trail Blazers' leading scorer will once again represent Oregon's only major league franchise as an All-Star next month. Rob Manning has more.
NBA coaches have named Brandon Roy an All-Star, for the second year in a row. The honor means Roy will join the likes of Kobe Bryant and Yao Ming, when the Western Conference All-Star team faces the Eastern All-Stars, in Phoenix next month.
Blazer supporters lobbied in vain to see forward LaMarcus Aldridge chosen as an All-Star, as well.
But Roy won't be alone over All-Star weekend. Blazers Rudy Fernandez, and Greg Oden, will play in the annual Rookie-Sophomore challenge. Fernandez will also compete in the Slam Dunk Contest, as a result of fan voting.
The Blazers are doing well as a team. They've won three games in a row, and are on pace to make the playoffs for the first time since 2003.
