Aid Worker Began Volunteer Work In High School
Portland, OR August 27, 2007 3:22 p.m.
For many of us, the stories of earthquakes, tsunamis and the devastating humanitarian consequences of war are troubling‚ but distant‚ headlines.
For Provash Budden many of the world's trouble spots are areas he has come to know well, as an aid worker for Catholic Relief Services.
His field experience includes work in Iraq, Pakistan, and in countries hit by the Indian Ocean tsunami.
Budden got his start here in Oregon, where he grew up. As a high schooler, he started working as a volunteer in the region.
I caught up with him while he was here visiting family on vacation, and asked him what kind of work he did as a teen.
