Adams Trying To Stay Focused On Job Of Being Mayor
Portland Mayor Sam Adams says he is concentrating on his agenda after the failure of a recall campaign this week.
Sam Adams: "Being mayor is a controversial job in the best of times, so I'm just focused on the issues that face the city of Portland."
Adams said he did not raise money or do any campaigning in anticipation of a recall. And he says, no one has been doing so on his account.
Adams has spent part of his first year as mayor dealing with the fallout from a relationship with a man who was younger than eighteen when the two first met.
Monday, the chief petitioner of the Adams' recall effort, decided not to submit the signatures he'd gathered.
Jasun Wurster said that since his campaign would not have made its signature goal, he would not submit the petitions into the public record - a move he said was intended to protect the privacy of those who signed.
