Adams AWOL As Supporters And Detractors Demonstrate
Portland Mayor Sam Adams hasn't said anything publicly, but people he knows say he may decide to stay in office.
The mayor's supporters and detractors took their message to the sidewalk outside that office Friday, as April Baer reports.
The silence from Adams' office is deafening. But Adams has apparently been speaking with community members and supporters about whether he can survive the revelation that he lied repeatedly about an affair with a young man several years ago.
In front of City Hall, Adams' supporters and opponents tried to sway public opinion.
Adams has been away from his office since Tuesday.
Even his press secretary has gone 24 hour periods without speaking to him. But sources at City Hall said Adams may soon speak to his fellow commissioners about whether he'll continue his term.
Commissioner Dan Saltzman says he thinks Adams should continue to serve, at least until an independent investigation is complete.
