An Oregon rancher has designed a fence-post tool that will be sold across Australia. Kristian Foden-Vencil reports on the signing of a new distribution agreement.

The tool is a pneumatic drive. It pounds fence posts into the ground. You use it instead of a sledge hammer.

Oregon rancher, Dan Rohrer, invented it 13 years years ago after talking to a fence builder who was complaining about his back.

Spokeswoman, Suzanne Bell, says the Australian distributor, Peerless, found the tool on the internet and picked it because it's smaller and easier to maneuver than other products.

Suzanne Bell: "You can essentially load it onto a small truck and go from post to post really easily and it doesn't require a lot of heavy equipment."

Rohrer Manufacturing employs eight people. That's not expected to rise any time soon, but production is expected to increase 50 percent.
