Two Oregon Soldiers At Ft. Hood Safe After Shooting
Portland, OR November 5, 2009 3:14 p.m.
The Oregon Military says it has two soldiers at the Fort Hood Army base where there was a shooting rampage Thursday, but they're okay.
Captain Stephen Bomar is with the Oregon National Guard.
Stephen Bomar: "They are in a civilian status, so they're not on duty. And they are down there with their families. Both of them were uninjured, uninvolved, however they do remain on lock-down with the rest of the base."
Oregon troops have been to that base in the past to train and have stopped over during international travel.
Fort Hood is the Army's largest U.S. post, with about 40,000 troops.
It's home to the Army's 1st Cavalry Division and elements of the 4th Infantry Division, as well as the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment and the 13th Corps Support Command.
