Fort Lewis, Washington soldiers are likely among the eight U.S. troops killed Tuesday in Afghanistan. That's according to the Associated Press.

October has now eclipsed August as the deadliest month for American forces since the war started in 2001. Austin Jenkins has reaction from an Army spouse.

According to reports out of Afghanistan, two Army vehicles were blown up in two different bomb attacks in the southern part of the country.

Seven U.S. soldiers and an Afghan civilian died in one attack. The eighth soldier died in the second bomb blast.

The 5th Stryker Brigade from Ft. Lewis has been in Afghanistan since July and has taken heavy casualties.

The official death toll before these latest bombings was 18.

Jamie Warren's husband is an Army medic stationed in Afghanistan. She says every time the phone rings it rattles her.

Jamie Warren: "You're just jumpy because you just don't know if it's going to be your husband calling or somebody else telling you that it's yet more bad news. It just stops your heart for a second."

Warren says she got a text message from another Army wife saying her husband is okay.

Meanwhile Fort Lewis is preparing for two more memorial services for soldiers killed in Afghanistan earlier this month.
