H1N1 Vaccine Supply Already Running Low
Portland, OR October 8, 2009 4:33 p.m.
Stocks of the H1N1 vaccine are running low, just a couple of days after arriving in Oregon.
Hood River County only received 200 doses, which have already been given to medical providers and first responders.
The county doesn’t have enough to give to the public, but hopes that in a few weeks that’ll change.
Jane Fleischbein with Linn County, says they still have a little bit left.
Jane Fleischbein: “We got 1100 doses initially and we split it between the two hospitals in Linn County and then reserved some to give it to our first responders. We’re waiting to get the actual injectable doses that we can give out and start to hold flu clinics which we hope to do in about three weeks.”
Marion County Health Department received 3200 doses. It’s already been shipped out to hospitals and health clinics.
A couple of schools have also received some of the nasal spray and will be using it to vaccinate students.
The federal government has said that eventually there will be enough vaccine to inoculate everyone.
