You're going to hear from Community Transitional School alumna and success story next.
Ruth Betancourt allowed me to visit her in her home.
Ruth spent most of the 8th grade year at the school, while her family was homeless and living in a shelter.
She's 18 now, and starts classes Monday at Portland State, where she plans to study mechanical engineering.
