Republican gubernatorial candidate Allen Alley ended his summer walk across the state Tuesday.

The governor's race took shape while Alley conducted his campaign trip from Baker City to Portland on foot.

He was close to his final stop at Tom McCall Waterfront Park when he answered a question about what he'll stand for on the Republican primary ballot.

Allen Alley: "I differentiate myself from anybody that's even thinking about running that I've heard of so far because I'm not really a politician. I've been at this about fifteen months. If you include the time I spent in the Governor's office, it's about two and a half years or so."

Alley founded the semiconductor firm Pixelworks before spending time as an economic advisor to Governor Ted Kulongoski.

State senator Jason Atkinson and former state lawmaker John Lim have both said they're also running for the Republican nomination for governor.

Among Democrats, former Governor John Kitzhaber has confirmed he's a candidate.

Former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury is also considering a run.
