More Town Hall Discussions On Health Care Reform Planned
Portland, OR August 18, 2009 1:43 p.m.
People continue to flock to meetings with Northwest representatives to find out about health care bills and make their views known.
Oregon Congress members Peter Defazio and Kurt Schrader, as well as Washington's Brian Baird, have meetings scheduled Tuesday evening and Wednesday.
Congressman Schrader attended a breakfast meeting Tuesday with several hundred physicians at the Oregon Health Forum. He referred to similarities between the current Congressional debate over health care and his past experience as a state legislator.
Kurt Schrader "Frankly, my involvement with the state legislature and health care issues became very involved, over the last two sessions, I served, 2003, '05, and '07, we were trying to do the right thing with very little money."
Schrader says his main concern is cost control. He's also working on an amendment he says would move medicine toward more evidence-based practices.
4th District Congressman Peter Defazio has town halls in Lane County Tuesday night, and Douglas County Wednesday.
Southwest Washington's Congressman Brian Baird kicks of the first of five meetings Tuesday at the Clark County Amphitheater.
