Candidate For Governor Begins Walk Across Oregon

A Republican candidate for Governor begins a walk across the state Monday. April Baer reports.

High-tech entrepreneur Allen Alley says he's going to walk across Oregon over the next thirty-seven days, starting in Baker City, and ending in Portland.

He'll cover 400 miles talking to voters about his campaign. Alley says he wanted to spend more time in rural Oregon, where he's never lived.

Allen Alley   "You know I think the other thing is it's the kind of thing I think other Oregonians would like to do, and you just don't have time to do it, and hopefully through the web, videos and blogs, other people will be able to enjoy this."

Alley's not facing much formal competition yet.

State legislators Brian Clem and Jason Atkinson are both exploring a run, as is former Secretary of State Bill Bradbury. And former Governor John Kitzhaber is considering a run.
