Kroger Report: Not Enough Evidence For Charges In Adams Case

downloadOregon Attorney General John Kroger has concluded there is not enough evidence to file charges against Portland Mayor Sam Adams for his relationship with a young man in 2005. April Baer reports.
Kroger's report finds that accounts differ on what took place when between then-Commissioner Sam Adams, and Beau Breedlove, a young man who was 17 when he met Adams.
According to the report, Breedlove asserts that illegal sexual contact did take place. Adams denies it.
Kroger concludes that there are serious questions about the credibility of Breedlove's account.
The report notes inconsistencies in prior statements Breedlove made, a lack of corroborating witnesses, and what Kroger characterizes as Breedlove's attempts to gain personally from the matter.
Kroger's staff has been investigating the matter since January. He'll address the matter further at noon Monday.
Beau Breedlove's attorney could not be reached for comment.
