If California Sneezes, Can Oregon's Cold Be Far Behind?

All the financial troubles in Salem are small change compared to Sacramento.  California lawmakers have to close a $24 billion budget shortfall before the state runs out of cash. 

Given that Oregon has its own budget troubles, should we care? 

Joe Mathews says yes.  He’s a senior fellow at the New America Foundation, a non-partisan think tank, and he lives in Los Angeles.
