Metolius Debate Not Over Yet
Salem, OR June 17, 2009 12:22 p.m.
The debate over destination resorts in Oregon's Metolius Basin could resurface in the Oregon Legislature.
Tuesday a bill that would block proposed developments there failed by one vote in the Oregon House.
Five Democrats, including House Speaker Dave Hunt, joined all Republicans in voting against the proposal.
Wednesday the bill's sponsor, Democratic Representative Brian Clem, moved to table the bill.
That's a procedural tactic that allows Clem to bring the bill back if he's able win over one more “yes” vote from a colleague.
