OBT Reaches $710k
The Oregon Ballet Theater is within striking distance of concluding a frenetic fundraising campaign it launched just a few weeks ago. Rob Manning has more.
The centerpiece of OBT’s fundraising campaign was a gala event last Friday night with performers from the New York City, Boston and San Francisco Ballets – to name a few. That event brought the local ballet to just $40,000 shy of its $750,000 dollar goal.
Executive director, John Ulsh says OBT won’t stop collecting if it reaches the goal before June 30th.
John Ulsh: “We have a fundraising goal every year, and of course, we’ll have a fundraising goal for this coming year, starting July 1, which is why I say that everything we can do above and beyond the $750,000 just goes to the benefit of the goal we have to achieve in the coming years.
Ulsh says the kind of fundraising and budget cutting OBT is doing is also happening at a number of other arts organizations around the state. He supports establishing a dedicated funding source for the arts.
