Milwaukie Police Involved In Fatal Shooting
Portland, OR June 3, 2009 3:14 p.m.
Clackamas County officials are investigating a fatal police shooting Tuesday afternoon in Milwaukie.
City police officers shot a man who lived at the Northridge Condominium on Freeman Way.
Officer Kevin Krebs of the Milwaukie police department says the man's identity will not be available until Wednesday afternoon. He says police were responding to a call they received.
Kevin Krebs "When they got the complex, he was armed with a knife, they felt their lives were in danger and responded."
Krebs says the man was an adult, not a minor, as some reports had suggested. The officers have been placed on administrative leave, as is routine after lethal use of force.
Their identities have not been disclosed yet, either.
Investigation of the shooting has been assigned to the Clackamas County Sheriff's Department's Major Crimes Team. County officials had no comment on their inquiry.
