As we learned last Monday, natural gas is an important part of our energy mosaic, but it has problems.

It’s a non-renewable fossil fuel, and it can be hard to transport. 

Energy companies want to get around that second problem by freezing natural gas into liquid form, transporting it to terminals, thawing it and piping it to where it’s needed. 

One of the strongest opponents to this process is Oregon Attorney General John Kroger. 

His office has filed an appeal to stop the construction of an LNG terminal near the mouth of the Columbia River.  He says the terminal runs afoul of both state and federal law.
