'No Frills' Airline Adds Service From Eugene to SF Bay Area

People flying out of the Eugene Airport now have a new destination available.

Wednesday Allegiant Air announced it will offer two flights a week to Oakland, California.  For a limited time, the one-way fare will be under $40.

John Fenyes is director of sales for Allegiant. He says the company wanted to offer the service during these tough economic times.

John Fenyes: “What we look at is that 92 percent of the public is employed, is working and they still want to go on vacation but they’re looking for bargains.”

Fenyes says Allegiant has been successful with its flights from Eugene to Las Vegas and Phoenix.  He says they can keep rates relatively low because Allegiant is a travel company that owns an airline and gets its revenue from several sources.

This could have been a better story had there been more detail, such as what dates (the Allegiant Air web site show this price in June) Or what are other airlines going to do, if anything. Better yet what is the best price for a flight on a airline other then Allegiant Air. Just asking for some reporting.
