Two Die In Small Plane Crash Near Sherwood

Federal aviation officials say a small private plane crashed Wednesday north of Newberg in Sherwood, killing the two.

Mike Fergus is a spokeman for the Federal Aviation Administration in Seattle.

Mike Fergus: “A PA-22 crash, there were two people on board, both fatal, crashed into a homeowners driveway.  FAA and the Norton National Transportaion Safety Board will be investigating.”

Fergus says an eyewitness told investigators it sounded as though an engine quit just before the aircraft crashed into the driveway.

No one was hurt on the ground but Fergus says the plane narrowly missed a man walking his dog.

The names of the deceased pilot and passenger have not been released.
