Clackamas Deputies Kill Drug Suspect
Portland, OR March 5, 2009 12:20 p.m.
The Clackamas County sheriff’s office confirmed today that deputies shot and killed a suspected drug offender in the town of Mulino, Wednesday night.
Deputies were serving a warrant for the arrest of two people, both suspected of growing and selling marijuana.
Jeff Green is with the sheriff's office.
Jeff Green: “At about 10:39 PM, deputies reported on their radio that shots had been fired and there was a person down. They secured the scene. The medical examiner from Clackamas County later in the evening came out and took possession of the deceased individual that was in the residence.”
Green says the victim’s identity won’t be public until next of kin is notified.
The other resident of the house was 80 year-old Marjorie Crawford. She was removed by ambulance after the shooting.
But Detective Green says her health problems weren’t related to the shooting. She’s facing multiple drug charges.
The officers involved in the shoooting are on paid administrative leave.
