Get Free Tax Help On Super Refund Saturday
Olympia, WA February 6, 2009 1:08 p.m.
Low to moderate income taxpayers can get free help preparing their tax returns Saturday.
Simultaneous clinics called Super Refund Saturday are happening in Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland.
The focus is on boosting refunds for people struggling in this recession. A key tool is the Earned Income Tax Credit.
Single mom Antoinette Williams of Tacoma says the credit boosted her refund big-time when she could really use it.
Antoinette Williams: “I think if I had done my own taxes, I would probably have missed out or would have messed up. I received about $4500 back. I actually was not expecting that much, but I did qualify for the earned income tax credit.”
Key Bank and half a dozen non-profit groups are sponsoring the refund clinics.
$42,000 is the maximum household income to qualify for free income tax preparation.
You can call the 2-1-1 hotline to get the number for your closest tax clinic. Advance appointments are recommended.
