Many Oregon Children Living Below Poverty Level
Portland, OR January 27, 2009 2:17 a.m.
We know a little more about the welfare of children in Oregon, and the news is sobering.
Statewide, over 140,000 children live below the federal poverty level, and 110,000 kids are without health care.
That's according to a new report released by Children First for Oregon.
Cathy Kauffman is the organization's policy and communications director. She says problems in the larger economy are making the problem worse.
