Horizon Offers Discounted Flight To Stranded Travelers
Richland, WA January 8, 2009 1:53 p.m.
Since I-5 is closed and trains aren't running between Seattle and Portland, airline ticket sales are taking off.
Horizon Air is offering discounted fares between the two cities.
The airline is selling a number of those tickets for $30 off the usual price. But those deals are hard to get.
Jen Boyer, with Horizon, says the airline will keep adding flights to keep up with demand.
Jen Boyer: "Every time we add a new flight a whole new batch of those $119 seats will go on the market. So someone continually trying to get on a flight might still get a $119 flight."
Wednesday Horizon sold through 1,000 of those discounted tickets and the airline added another 500 tickets Thursday.
Horizon is also looking to increase the number of flights between Western and Eastern Washington because the mountain passes are closed.
