Guests And Workers At White Pass Inn Are Stuck
Richland, WA January 7, 2009 10:29 p.m.
Across Washington State all major routes through the Cascade Mountains are closed due to avalanches and mudslides.
That’s meant some travelers and workers in those areas are stuck.
Dale Critchlow is manager at the White Pass Village Inn in Washington. He says if White Pass on Highway 12 doesn’t reopen he’ll just convince workers to stay.
Dale Critchlow: "I can’t keep them from coming down. I can make a recommendation for them to stay. In fact, I will probably be making spaghetti for the crew tonight."
Critchlow says in the last 12 days he’s seen about 80 inches of snow, multiple power outages and two highway closures.
The weather has taken a toll on his business, which depends heavily on White Pass skiers.
