Smith Received Contribution From Bush Ex-Pardonee

Oregon Senator Gordon Smith was among several Republicans who got campaign contributions from the family of a Brooklyn developer President Bush pardoned -- then said he'd changed his mind about it. Christy George has more.
President George W. Bush pardoned New York developer Isaac R. Toussie on Tuesday. Toussie pled guilty to lying with regard to a Long Island mortgage fraud scheme.
But yesterday, Bush said he wants to re-examine, and perhaps rescind the pardon.
Bush said he was reconsidering the pardon after news reports detailed generous campaign contributions, to the Republican Party and individual candidates, by Toussie's family.
Among the candidates receiving money from the Toussies was Oregon Senator Gordon Smith.
Smith got $4600 total from Robert and Laura Toussie.
In a statement, the White House said it expects the Justice Department's pardon attorney, Ronald L. Rodgers, to make a recommendation on the case.
