Portland Business Finds Benefits In The Snow
Portland, OR December 24, 2008 2:31 p.m.
One Portland-area business has figured out a way to cash in on this week’s heavy snowfall. As Pete Springer reports, Seven Dees Nursery is using their machinery to plow snow from business parking lots and driveways.
Seven Dees is a nursery and landscaping company, with half-a-dozen front end loaders on hand.
Turns out this equipment is great for clearing snow too.
The company also has two snow plow blades that bolt on to the front of their work trucks, so they’ve been quite popular with anyone needing a parking lot cleared.
Dean Snodgrass is co-owner of Seven Dees. He says they started out plowing lots for their landscaping customers.
But word has spread.
Dean Snodgrass: “It’s been 12 hour days, there’s been a number of around the clock shifts, you know. We’ll just keep the machines running and exchange operators throughout the day.”
Snodgrass says the last time there was such a demand for snow removal in Portland was during a winter storm four years ago.
