Weather Forecast: More Snow Followed By Rain
Portland, OR December 23, 2008 7:16 p.m.
More snow may be on the way for the Portland-metro area.
Clinton Rockey is a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. He says it will probably start snowing again Wednesday morning.
Clinton Rockey: “We’ll be seeing some light snow out there, especially across the Portland area—maybe as far south as Salem but I think primarily from Hillsboro to Wilsonville and Aurora and points northward, we’ll see some light snow in the morning. Right now, not a big storm so accumulations should stay light—generally 1-3 inches and I think the heavier amounts will be up in the hill country, the West Hills and other parts of high terrain.”
Rockey says the snow will gradually turn to rain by Wednesday afternoon and it will likely be a few degrees above freezing until nightfall.
Light rain or snow mixed with rain is expected for Christmas Day. The majority of snow in the Willamette Valley isn’t expected to melt until this weekend.
