PDX Looking Better After 3 Days Of Delays And Cancellations
Portland, OR December 23, 2008 7:01 p.m.
After three days of delays and cancellations at Portland International, more planes managed to fly in and out Tuesday. Kristian Foden-Vencil reports.
Take what is usually the busiest travel days of the year at PDX, add to that the hundreds of people who’ve quite literally been living there over the last three days, and you have a very crowded airport.
But, a break in the weather meant carriers like Alaska Airlines and Horizon, started to fly in and out of PDX again.
Here’s Port of Portland spokeswoman, Kama Simonds.
Kama Simonds: “Well just to give you a little perspective. On Saturday we had 127 cancelled, Sunday 380 cancelled, Monday 259 cancelled, and today, Tuesday 30 cancelled, so it’s looking much better.”
About 300 people a night have been bunking down at PDX.
The airport says it has asked cleaning staff not to vacuum at night, to keep the noise down. And some restaurants are remaining open 24 hours so passengers can eat and drink.
