Gov. Kulongoski Presents Budget Plans
Portland, OR December 1, 2008 3:48 p.m.
Monday, Oregon Governor Ted Kulongoski presented his version of the next two-year budget for the state. The $15.8 billion spending plan reflects the uncertain economy.
Ted Kulongoski: “The message of this budget is: Yes, the storm will pass and we have every reason to look to the future with hope and confidence. That said, there is no denying that Oregon is feeling the downdraft of what is happening in the national economy.”
Our Salem correspondent, Chris Lehman, says the budget has no winners in such a down economy, but that education is relatively protected. He joined me to discuss the governor's budget.
