Scent Of Roses Getting Stronger In Corvallis
Portland, OR November 17, 2008 1:25 p.m.
After a weekend win, the Oregon State football Beavers are aiming high. The team may be on its way to its first Rose Bowl appearance in 44 years. April Baer reports.
There's a lot to love about the Beavers this season.
Jacquizz Rodgers is only a freshman, but he's leading the PAC-10 in rushing.
The team's two quarterbacks haven't disappointed, either. After an ugly 0-and-2 start, the Beavs have won 7 games out of 8 -- including an unexpected victory over high-ranked USC that raised the stakes.
Defensive End Victor Butler.
Victor Butler: "I guess it's just a trust thing, you don't know what the guy in front of you, behind you's going to do. You get a few games under your belt, the chemistry comes in, now you trust the guy in front of
you. You know what they're going to do before they do it."
To make it to the Rose Bowl, Oregon State has to win on the road this weekend, in deeply hostile territory.
The Arizona Wildcats got their whiskers seriously singed by a loss to the Oregon Ducks last Saturday, and
are promising to take regional revenge.
And the Beavers still must beat the Ducks in the annual Civil War game Thanksgiving weekend.
