Kulongoski Unveils Website About The Economy
Portland, OR October 6, 2008 4 p.m.
Governor Kulongoski's office has launched a new website to help Oregonians worried about the economy. Kristian Foden-Vencil reports.
The site reads like a leaflet from the Great Depression with a string of answers to troubling questions like: Are my bank deposits safe? And, what happens if my brokerage firm closes?
But Kulongoski says for most people there is no need to make a sudden change. He also thinks Oregon will weather this financial storm.
Ted Kulongoski: "And I think you do that by one, investing in education, investing in the state's infrastructure, its roads its bridges, it puts people to work. It's about being a national and international leader in renewable energy and I think the state is on that path."
Kulongoski is proposing one of the biggest transportation packages in Oregon's history. And to pay for all those new roads and bridges he wants the next legislature to increase the gas tax.
