Party Unity Steals Oregon Delegation's Spotlight
Portland, OR August 27, 2008 11:25 p.m.
When Barack Obama won the Democratic party's nomination for president Wednesday, it happened by acclamation, after only some of the delegates' votes had been counted.
Oregon's delegation didn't get to make its dramatic presentation. Senator Ron Wyden said it would've been nice to put Obama over the top.
Ron Wyden: "But it doesn't take away from the fact that we are the green energy capital of the world, that we had the biggest rally during the campaign season right in our home state."
Wyden said Oregon was set to pledge 44 delegates for Obama. He said the remaining 20 were for the woman he called "that inspirational Senator from New York, Hillary Clinton."
