Three Fort Lewis Soldiers Killed In Afghanistan

downloadThree soldiers from Fort Lewis were killed in Afghanistan Tuesday. Among the dead is a 24-year-old man from Vancouver. Correspondent Chris Lehman reports.
The three soldiers had been in Afghanistan since March with the so-called Triple Nickel, the 555th Engineer Brigade. They were killed when a suicide bomber blew up a bridge they were helping to rebuild.
A survivor of the blast told the Stars and Stripes newspaper that the blast also injured two Afghan boys who were walking home from school.
The soldiers killed included Sergeant Bryce Howard of Vancouver. Howard enlisted in the military soon after graduating from Battle Ground High School. He was 24. In the army, he became a Technical Engineer.
Also killed in the blast was 25-year-old Sergeant Cory Clark. Clark was in Afghanistan after already having served two terms in Iraq. He grew up in Florida.
The third soldier who died was a career soldier, 43-year-old Sergeant First Class Rocky Herrera. He was a construction equipment supervisor.
