Governor Kulongoski asked the federal government Friday to take a step back from making a final decision on a proposed LNG facility at Bradwood Landing.

He asked the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, or FERC, to revise its environmental impact statement and open the document for public comment.

Jillian Schoene: "The governor has made that request because he finds the disregard for Oregon's concerns unacceptable.  This project has such profound potential impacts on the lives of Oregonians that this was a necessary step for him to take."

Kulongoski says the proposal for an LNG terminal near Astoria has changed since the original environmental impact statement was issued a year ago.

He wants the FERC to hold off issuing a license until the commissioners look at the new information.

The governor made a similar request of FERC two months ago and was denied.

The FERC will meet Thursday to review and possibly vote on the project.
