Oregon's Superdelegates Begin To Break Silence

Illinois Senator Barack Obama picked up the votes of three more super-delegates Friday, including one Oregon Democratic party member.

Because of the close race, neither Senator Hillary Clinton nor Obama can win the nomination without super-delegates this year.

Jenny Greenleaf, the state's Democratic National Committeewoman, first announced her selection on the Internet.

Jenny Greenleaf: “I chose to announce online because I really got involved politically about the same time I got involved in blogging. I'm not exactly what you'd call old guard. I became involved in 2002 and then I very much wanted to connect the D.N.C. to state parties, and it wasn't. And I think the Obama campaign gets that.”

Already, Congresswoman Darlene Hooley and Governor Ted Kulongoski have endorsed Clinton.

Congressmen David Wu, Earl Blumenauer, and Peter Defazio have signed on with Obama.

Senator Ron Wyden and Secretary of State Bill Bradbury have not announced.

Oregon also has five relatively unknown superdelegates, appointed by the state party.

Greenleaf is one, the other four are likely to endorse next week, and have signaled that Obama will likely be their choice.
