Portland, OR May 22, 2008 6:18 p.m.
An appeals court ruling in Oregon this week upheld the state’s ban on gay marriages.
That came on the heels of an opposite ruling in California. Last week the high court there ruled that banning gay marriage was illegal.
While lawyers throw around this political football -- or bouquet if you will -- regular people, gay and straight continue to go to weddings. Some are legal unions; others are not.
Commentator Elizabeth Moore recently flew to St. Louis to see her best friend get married, an experience, she says, that was beyond compare.
