Oregon's Voters Finished, Now What About Super Delegates?

Senator Barack Obama may have won Oregon by a 16 percent margin. But as with everything in this Democratic primary, it's not as simple as that.

Because of the way Oregon's Democrats work, Obama is likely to win between 29 and 31 of the state's delegates.

That means Senator Hillary Clinton will pick up between 21 and 23 herself.

Ethan Lindsey reports on the delegates - and super delegates - that Obama may have gained Tuesday.

A six-point delegate lead isn't enough to give Obama the nomination.

And remember, Oregon is home to 12 so-called super delegates. Obama has 3 of those, and Clinton 2.

Uncommitted superdelegates Senator Ron Wyden and Secretary of State Bill Bradbury may throw their support in the next few weeks.

Meredith Wood Smith is the chair of the state Democratic party, and also a super delegate. When asked what would drive her decision, she mentioned a factor that could favor Obama.

Meredith Wood Smith: “What Oregon voters have said is very, very important.”

Wood Smith, and four other party officials, said they were waiting until after Oregon's Election Day to make a choice.

But first vice chair Frank Dixon now says he may not say anything until every state primary is over, in early June.
