Brown Wins Right To Face Dancer For Secretary Of State's Office
Portland, OR May 21, 2008 8:40 a.m.
The race for Oregon Secretary of State featured several well-known Democratic state senators vying for their party's nomination.
Portland-area senate majority leader, Kate Brown prevailed, defeating Eugene-area senator, Vicki Walker, and Rick Metsger from Hood River.
Brown credited her fundraising skills, which she’s honed raising money for other Democrats in recent years. But Brown says she won’t be a partisan, in her duties as Secretary of State.
Kate Brown: “As a person who won her first race by seven votes, I know that it’s extremely important for every vote to be counted, because every vote matters, and I want to make sure every Oregonian, regardless of party affiliation, feels comfortable that the Secretary of State has unimpeachable integrity.”
Brown will face Republican Rick Dancer in the fall. He ran unopposed for the GOP nomination.
