Nader Makes Portland Appearance In Fifth Presidential Bid
Portland, OR May 13, 2008 4:30 p.m.
Oregon isn't just campaign country for the Democratic presidential candidates. Five-time presidential candidate Ralph Nader was in Portland Tuesday. Andrew Theen reports.
The former Green Party and Reform Party candidate spoke at the law offices of supporters in Portland.
Nader took shots at all comers. He said all three major candidates are part of what he called the "Pro-Israeli Washington puppet show."
Nader claimed the other candidates are corporate shills who aren't listening to the real issues of the American public; he named solar energy, single payer healthcare, peace, consumer protection, labor rights.
Nader inevitably addressed his most hated political term: spoiler.
Ralph Nader: "To use the word spoiler is to reflect an attitude that I must describe wittingly and unwittingly as political bigotry."
Nader wants to debate whomever the two major party candidates are this fall. He says including himself and Libertarian candidate Bob Barr would present an interesting mix.
