Clinton Campaigns On Health Care At OHSU

Hillary ClintonPresidential candidate Hillary Clinton was at Oregon Health and Science University this morning, in hopes of pulling out a much-needed victory in Oregon.

Clinton used the visit to Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital to emphasize that her healthcare plan would help more people than the one proposed by Senator Barack Obama.

Hillary Clinton: “You have to have a seamless healthcare system that covers every single person. My plan does, my opponent’s plan doesn’t. There are 600,000 uninsured Oregonians. Under my plan, everyone would have insurance. Under his plan, at least 220,000 would still be left uninsured.”

Clinton emphasized that covering just children is insufficient – because kids with severe health issues often grow up to be adults with serious medical needs.

The former First Lady referred briefly to her failed attempts in the mid-1990’s to enact universal healthcare. She called it “unfinished business” that she wants to complete as president.

Senator Obama is also campaigning in Oregon Friday.
